Radical Feelism – new video art with Corie Shannon

Corie Shannon is a model who I ended up working with based on a fun, talkative video posted on YouTube where she outlined some of her core beliefs.  We had the opportunity to shoot around Phoenix a bit and I finally got to use my Blackmagic Micro Cinema Camera, though it was on a completely unfamiliar steadicam so my work was less than steady.  The title of this, “Radical Feelism,” is based on a tattoo you can barely make out on the inside of Corie’s arm, and she goes into much greater detail in the actual video.

Five Muses

I made this video with the 5 amazing models I photographed in Brooklyn in May of this year- Cacia Zoo, Glass Olive, Sierra Mckenzie, Kacie Marie and Victoria Elle. It’s a combination of behind-the-scenes footage and intentionally artsy stuff, shot on both my Fuji X-T1 and GoPro Hero 4 Black and scored with my ambient guitar noodling.

Double Exposure Instax w Sierra (NSFW)

sierra instax004

I am absolutely in love with making double exposure instax mini images.  The Fuji Neo Classic is, to my knowledge, the only instant film camera with that capability.  Part of the fun is figuring out how to be more creative with each shot made. sierra instax002

Traditionally, a double exposure works best as one shot of subject, one shot of texture, but in these images w model Sierra McKenzie, we tried a variety of layering concepts.  Turn the camera upside down for one image.  Have the model pose the same but against a different background.  Model is both near and far, like the great Grover said.   All this with the benefit of having a small, one-of-a-kind collectible item to sell on Etsy.

All You Need Is Body Paint

BTS of a shoot I did in Nov 2013 with model Wildflower and painter Jamie Graden (shoot described in further detail in a previous post). NSFW to say the least. Unfortunately I didn’t have the iPad cord long enough to plug in, or I’d have the whole 6 hour paint job as a time lapse! This still gives a good sense of what it’s like to be on set for these kinds of shoots.
