“Lava” and the Love of Hawaii

The recent Pixar release of “Inside Out” was accompanied by a lovely short called “Lava,” a love story between 2 volcanoes Uku and Lele in the Pacific Ocean.  It was inspired by the director and songwriter James Ford Murphy’s trips to Kona, the Big Island.  It’s only been a few months since my own trip to Kona, and “Lava” filled me with such happiness and longing that I’ve been revisiting the photos I took during that trip.  I think I’ve worked through most of the images worth working through, but there were a few new panos to make, a few images of my daughter that I worked up anew.

I’m already scheming to go back.  So often, I take a trip to someplace new, explore, figure out how special it was after I return home.  Kona day 2 (435 of 528)
